Development of ideas and structure in moving image

The three act structure

The three act structure is the basic structure of a film, the beginning, middle and end.

The film above is the recent film the inbetweeners. This film is made up of the three act structure.
Act 1 is when they finish school and decide to go on a lads holiday.
Act 2 is consisted of their time on holiday.
Act 3 is when they come to the end of their holiday and arrive home.

Not all films are made up of the three act structure, other films take other structures by maybe putting the end at the beginning and then the film starts from the beginning and shows how the film or why the film comes to that ending.
